CARE

C: compassion
A: action
R: responsibility
E: equality

Compassion is a trait that is admirable but I don't believe that it's a sign of a leader. Being compassionate allows for unbiased opinions but in order to be a leader you need to be passionate about your personal beliefs. Responsibility doesn't allow for spontaneous actions which may not be responsible but will get your ideas noticed. Equality is important to maintain in all situations but should be a second nature not a goal to achieve. Action is the quality that I would personally say is most important to being a global citizen. Taking what you believe in and turning it into an initiative takes risk, passion, and spontaneous action. To take action it involves raising awareness and making plans as part of being a leader and a global citizen.

  1. I really like how you saw the other side of this model. While the C, R, and E of the care model are important I agree with you that they are far secondary to action. Without action nothing happens. A person can talk about doing something forever but that doesn't make it beneficial. Only when steps are taken to accomplish your goals do they become beneficial and thus make you a good global citizen

  2. I agree with you and Sam that without action nothing happens. But I also believe that right now the focus needs to be compassion. Many people are willing to take action but not many truly feel for or try and understand what somebody else is going through. i think that it is a big part of being a leader.

  3. I am yet again agreeing with the statement about action. I believe that having the courage to stand up and take action is the first step in being able to empathize with others and fight for equality. We see disparity around us everyday, yet we find it difficult to identify what the problem is and act on it. The care model contains attributes that can all be found in a great leader, however I agree that action is the most important.
